“Three years ago I went to have my ears tested. I was tired of fighting with my wife about the volume of our TV night after night. I knew I had lost the sounds of high pitches over 38 years working on the railroad, but didn't think my hearing was that bad. When Ken tested my hearing and then retested it a second time with what it would be like with the help of hearing aids there was a difference. I agreed to try a loner set of hearing aids for a month. There was a difference right from the start, but each week Ken would adjust the hearing aids more and more to what my hearing loss was. He explained my loss was so great my ears couldn't handle it all at once. Over the course of this trail period the world began to come alive. Sounds I hadn't heard for many years began to appear. Some were good sounds and some I could have did without. I couldn't believe how loud the birds were at our bird feeder. I hadn't heard a bird in years. Walking to get the mail I reclaimed the sound of snow crunching with each new step. Wind blowing through the trees I had been robbed of for years. One sound I could have did without was on the drive home that first day. When we left Ken's office the fan belt started squealing. The faster we drove the louder it was. I told my wife we needed to pull over, because it was so bad. She informed me the fan belt wasn't squealing. I disagreed and we drove on again. There it is I said. Hear it? She said hear what. There is nothing any different. I removed the hearing aids and the fan belt noise disappeared. I put them back in and there it was again. My wife realized what I was hearing. Our old car leaked wind and the faster we drove the louder it got. It was a sound I couldn't hear without the hearing aids. The hearing aids have improved my life so much that now some nights my wife has to ask me to turn the volume up a little so she can hear the TV. One time one hearing aid quit working and we called. They had us come right in to find the problem. When we arrived they asked what the problem was and my wife informed them that she didn't know, but we weren't leaving without it being fixed. Everyone got a good laugh knowing she wasn't going back to those days again. Ken and his staff have been great to work with. The few times one of the hearing aids has failed to work properly they got us right in and it was repaired in minutes while we waited. Usually a trip to a doctors office is a dreaded experience, but I look forward to each visit. Not only has each experience been enjoyable they have become like family to us. Top quality people to improve your quality of life if you are missing out on the sounds of life.”
